January 30, 2010

I was driving down Newstead Ave. I was reminiscing on some of our hubcap adventures, and was thinking I was due to find another one. After going over the Highway 40 overpass, I saw one on the side of the road! I quickly pulled over, turned off my car, turned on the emergency flashers, and retrieved the hubcap. It's not a particularly good one and it's kind of broken, but it's really all about the hunt.

Chelsea- we need to study hubcaps so we can tell what kind of car it's from!

old tale

In August-ish 2009,
Megan, Heather and Chelsea went on an adventure trip to Columbia, MO. We got in the car with Caysea and Dana and went to dinner. On our way home from dinner, it was dark and busy on the road. We were driving down a main fare and Dana was driving. She pulled off the road into an unfamiliar road and did a U-turn. She said she was letting the traffic go by and we were going to get a hubcap! We were excited.

Dana pulled back into traffic and over to the far left lane and slowed down. Whoever was sitting in the back left seat, opened their door quickly grabbed the hub cap and we were on our way!!!

recent resuce.

as seen on Megan's facebook:

Emergency flashers + stopping on the side of a busy road with no shoulder + Chelsea opening her car door + 2 U-turns = a very successful hubcap hunt

Very ture. I called Megan about quart til 7pm. I saw a hubcap! It might be hard to get but definitely a two person job. We would rendezvous after 9 to get it. We chatted on the phone and met at 7-11. After getting a hot choco and a doughnut we devised a plan and set it into action. Megan drove near the site, slowed down, put her flashers on and stopped RIGHT at the hubcap. perfect pick up. I opened the door and got the hubcap. Megan then made 2 sweet u- turns to get back to my car and we were golden.

The hubcap is a Buick. a little scratched but shiny and looking pretty

beginning

this is the beginning. and the word was "hubcap"

I collect hubcaps. not hubcaps from a store, but road side hubcaps. I rescue them from their death and turn them into pretty things like clocks.
My friends collect them with me and Megan has been a huge asset to the business and fun.
