Becky's morning rescue

Becky, Emily, grandmomily, Ashley and I went to breakfast. Becky walked in a few minutes after us and said, " I would have been here two minutes sooner but I saw something shiny on the side of the road."
And when you seed something shiny you have to stop to get it.
Success.

Don't Lose It

Once, I was in a van that lost a hubcap. It was a surreal experience as I am the one who gathers them and never wants to lose them. I was riding shotgun as we were driving west bound toward the sunset on the highway... zoooom... and pop, off it came and it all happened so fast but I recall watching it in the side mirror as it bounced down the highway and broke into pieces. No rescuing it for sure.

Spotted on a turn. Opened my door. Picked up cap. Pretty.

"OOO! a Buick!"

Found a hubcap just chillin' in the graveyard on King Shig Way. Megan scooped it up because the light was long enough. Then after crossing the intersection, there was a beautiful Buick just glistening in the sun, propped up on the corner. So Megan got that one too. Double success!

As a roadside hubcap rescuer, you must keep your safety in mind. Here's a list of things to keep in mind while rescuing caps...

Do NOT pick them up on the side of a busy interstate highway (I've been tempted to do this, considering 64/40 is a goldmine of hubcaps).
DO travel with a friend. It's more fun this way!
Do NOT retrieve caps during a busy time on the road. We usually wait until the roads are nearly empty. Around 11pm is a prime hubcap hunting time.
DO use your emergency blinkers.
Do NOT rescue a hubcap if you think its going to put you in a dangerous situation. It's not worth it.
DO have fun!

Spinner!

Chelsea and I will forever tell the story of how we rescued the spinner hubcap. It will be a tale of yore that will be passed down from generations.

We were driving down Morganford. Chelsea saw something shiny out of the corner of her eye in the dentist's office parking lot. I turned on Holly Hills. I think I illegally turned into the dentist's parking lot. There it was. A spinner hubcap. A perfect specimen! Chelsea has it hanging outside her front door.

I was texting a guy I had never met, he was a friend of my coworker, and she wanted to set us up. He asked me to send a picture. He obviously wanted me to send him a picture of myself. Instead, I sent him this. He should have asked more specifically!

Jeff's First Hubcap Rescue

From Jeff about his first rescue: This morning I went out and grabbed the hubcaps I saw yesterday. They were in Clayton, along the south side of the Forest Park Parkway just east of I-170. Fortunately despite being a high-traffic location there is a little-used on ramp from Shaw Park where I could park my car for how long it took me to grab them.

- one of them turned out to just be a "ring" which I assume goes around the edge of the rim.

Claire's New Decor

Dana and Claire were sitting at home when their roommate came home. He told them there was a hubcap out on the road to get. The girls got in their car and headed out to get the hubcap. As they spotted the cap and were planning how to get it... SMASH! It got run over. After witnessing this accident, they still wanted to rescue it and they did.

This guy was the first hubcap mirror accessory apart of the large growing collection.
